Royal Mail Limited Edition Stationary
I was inspired to do this project after seeing a fellow illustrator's work on some UPS packaging. I thought it would be fun to take a crack at designing some limited-edition holiday packaging and I chose the Royal Mail as my client. I wanted to capture the magic of receiving a Christmas present or card in the mail. My original sketch was of a classic Royal Mail van with presents and letters flying out.
I wanted to incorporate iconic visuals like the red van and red postbox because they're such big brand identities. I also grew up watching Postman Pat so the red mail van and red postboxes are just something I've always associated with mail and the postal service. Going back to red, I used a limited colour palate to highlight the red and line art. I also added a bit of variation in tone so the snowflakes would stand out and the characters had a bit more visual interest.
